Pamela has a very diverse background - As a former government employee in the areas of law enforcement, crime victim services and mental health advocacy, as well as a stand up comedienne and actress, playwright and theatre owner and as an outspoken advocate for children and abuse vicitms survivors, Pam is a person who has found humor to be as necessary in life as food, water and shelter. Humor will get you through anything - including change. Pam is firm believer that humor and laughter is the most positive way to live life and to deal with changes that occur in our lives.
After coming from a family riddled with abuse; Pamela wanted to help others who are dealing
with the same issues. Pam's own aunt Lois Jurgens, made Minnesota history after beating her son to death, only to have the system ignore that fact for nearly 22 years. Pam began her fight for the rights of children being abused and ignored by the system, Pamela lobbied to change laws for children who had been abused. Pam founded the non-profit organization, Safe Place for Kids, in 1986. Safe Place came into existence after her own child, who at 4 years old, had been sexually abused by a neighbor who also happened to be a prision guard. Pamela has always sought to bring a better life to others. From managing millions of dollars in funding for law enforcement and community grants; to founding Oops Dinner Theatre, Her drive and ambition is phenominal. Within six years of founding Oops Theatre, the theatre was voted best theatre in the Twin Cities in a market of 285 theatres and named Vice President to the National Dinner Theatre Association. Pamela also an accomplished playwright - who you are welcome to Google . All of those accomplishments happened during changes in Pamela's life. Pamela, a dyslexic who barely graduated from high school - ending up third from the bottom of her class. After having four children, Pamela went back to school and earned a BA degree in psychology - graduating with honors and becoming a life time member of the National Psy Chi Association - while raising her children and working full time. She has experienced the loss many loved ones during her life, including that of her mother at an early age, giving her the compassion and understanding of the devistation of the loss of loved ones. Pamela has been poor, Pamela has been financially successful. Pamela understands change -- knowing how fast it can occur and what it can do to a person when there is no bright side.
